Wilson (pig) Arrived 16 January 2017
Little Wilson was purchased from Gumtree by his previous carer, in order to save him from the meat industry for which he was destined. Unfortunately he became unwell, developing a skin condition which turned out to be a terrible case of mange. Unable to afford veterinary care and provide for the growing piglet, Wilson’s owners decided to surrender him.
Wilson required immediate vet care and had to be quarantined for over two weeks, to avoid the highly contagious disease spreading to the other animals. He was made as comfortable as possible in our vacant worker’s cottage, alternating between the tiled rooms as he shed dead skin.
When Wilson finally got the all clear from the vet, he moved into one of the hospital nurseries with his own yard. He is absolutely loving it! He is such a happy and energetic little pig, he loves digging around in the dirt, wallowing in the mud and just doing what little pigs do.
He’s growing very quickly, and when he is large enough, he will join the rest of the pigs in a special pig area we aptly named ‘Pig Paradise’.
Would you like to help us to take care of WILSON? One off donations and sponsorship gifts are available now to support our work. Thank you for caring about farm animals.
