Mischief

Mischief (alpaca) Arrived: 20 December 2016

Introducing Mischief, the gorgeous and inquisitive alpaca. Mischief was purchased by her previous owners for the sole purpose of breeding. A substantial period of time had passed, and she had not yet produced any crias (baby alpacas). Since she was not serving her “purpose”, her owners decided they no longer wanted to keep her. After negotiations with our Happy Hooves manager, an agreement was made to surrender her to us.

We were all very excited for her to meet our alpaca bachelor Julio. Julio had been doing a wonderful job guarding our flock of sheep on his own, but after the loss of his long term buddy Jack last year,  we really wanted him to have a friend. Alpacas always feel more relaxed in pairs, so when we heard about Mischief, it seemed like the perfect solution and hoped they would be a match made in heaven.

When the two were initially introduced, it wasn’t exactly a case of love at first sight. Mischief was curious about her new friend, but Julio seemed disinterested and was playing ‘hard to get’. Much to our relief, as time has passed the two have developed a friendship and are often spotted grazing together.

We’re so happy to welcome this stunning girl to the Happy Hooves family.  Her only purpose now is to live life as she wants, in the company of animals doing the same, protected and free to be themselves. ?

Would you like to help us to take care of Mischief?  One off donations and sponsorship gifts are available now to support our work. Thank you for caring about farm animals.
