Albert (goat). Arrived 19 May 2016 Update 29/7/19 This morning we say goodbye to one of the biggest characters we’ve ever had at the sanctuary. Albert had a personality much bigger than his impressive stature. He always left an impression on people, luring them into a false sense of security with his pale blue eyes before taking a big swing with those long horns! Al joined us back in May, 2016 after his carer had passed away. The carer’s daughter lived in suburbia, and didn’t have the space for a…

Rest easy old girl <3 Lucy arrived with Mary (deceased), Jack (deceased), Minty (deceased) Julio, Freckles, Kath and Kel.. They came from a…

Cleveland
Cleveland (goat) Arrived 6th March 2019 Just as twins kids Bonnie and Clyde had settled in, we received a call from a local pound. A little goat had come into their care, and they asked if we could give him a home. The next day, we introduced Cleveland to his new friends Bonnie and Clyde, and pair became a trio. We were unable to determine how old Cleveland was when he came into our care, but we guessed he would have been about 3 weeks old. He was quite underweight,…

Bonnie & Clyde
Bonnie & Clyde (goats) Arrived 18th February 2019 In mid February (2019) we were contacted by someone who had taken in two orphaned goat kids. As they didn’t have adequate space to keep the goats long term, they decided to look for somewhere safe for siblings Bonnie and Clyde to go. That same day the roughly one-week-old kids arrived at the sanctuary. But not before stopping in for a quick health check at our vets. Clyde was a little flat and was scouring. It wasn’t long until he was back…

Eli
Eli (pig) Arrived 22nd January 2019 On the 22nd of January 2019 we were contacted by a hobby farmer. Their sow had recently given birth, and one of the newborn piglets was unable to use his right rear leg properly. It was believed that Eli’s injury was due to his mother crushing him. As a result, he was struggling to compete with his siblings to feed. Eli was just a couple of hours old when we picked him up and brought him back to the sanctuary. He was a tiny…

Hank
Hank (sheep) Arrived 5th December 2018 In late 2018 Hank was discovered homeless and wandering in bushland. He was all alone with no other sheep in sight. He was brought home by the woman who found him, and she offered him a loving home. Unfortunately her fences were not adequate enough to keep this spirited ram from escaping, and it soon became clear that Hank would have to move somewhere more secure. Originally his stay at Happy Hooves was to be temporary. Before rehoming he would first need to…

Mish
Mish (pig) Arrived 14th November 2018 Mish arrived in back of a ute early Wednesday morning, and took a few timid steps into her new life here at Happy Hooves. Perth Pig Save‘s contact at a local slaughterhouse arranged her release through their network. She is the second sow to be released by the pork producers, the first being Carol pig who began a new life at Greener Pastures back in January. Up until today, we’re unsure if Mish has ever felt the sun on her back…

Anton
Anton (pig) Arrived 17th August 2018 Anton did not a have a good start to life. He came to us at about one week old, unable to properly use his hind legs to walk or stand due to a possible spinal injury. We gave him around the clock care and time, but he didn’t show any signs of improvement and we discovered that on top of his existing ailments, he was also blind. Anton was taken to the vets again after a few days and it was determined he was…

JT
JT (goat) Arrived 25th October 2018 This handsome little guy was impounded by Perth rangers. No one came forward to claim the young goat, which is so often the case. With nowhere for him to go, they contacted us to see if we had space to accommodate him. We are trying to reduce the animal intake here at the sanctuary, as our funds and resources can only be stretched so far. However we couldn’t leave JT to an uncertain fate, and soon after he arrived at here at his forever…

Marley
Marley (lamb) Arrived 6th September 2018 This gorgeous little boy was found by a couple working on a sheep station near Carnarvon, Western Australia. Marley was only about a week old and had been abandoned by his mother. The couple took him in and cared for the young lamb, but needed to find somewhere safe for Marley to go as they would soon be leaving the country. They contacted us, and we were happy to offer Marley a loving home. Marley formed a close bond with Spring, a goat kid…

Bernie
Bernie (goat) Arrived 7th June 2018 Back in June 2018, when we were contacted by rangers about the pigs Lola and Bindi, they also mentioned that they had impounded a goat. We were told he was an old goat, “nothing special”, and he was due to be destroyed as no one had claimed him. As we couldn’t cater to another goat at this time, a dear friend of ours agreed to foster him for us while we searched for a loving home. When we collected Bernie, he was not a…

Willow, Hermione, Chloe, Lana, Tamati, Puaa, Ronald & Sam (pigs) Arrived 30th June 2018 Four days after Lola gave birth, it was Bindi’s turn. On 30th of June, Bindi birthed eight adorable and healthy piglets, four girls and four boys – Willow, Hermione, Chloe, Lana, Tamati, Puaa, Ronald and Sam. All eight piglets are happy and healthy. As gorgeous as these little guys are, we hope they are the last piglets birthed here at Happy Hooves. We do not condone the breeding of animals, as there are so many out there…

Pumpkin, Napoleon, Squirt, Bert, Earnie & Eddie
Pumpkin, Napoleon, Squirt, Bert, Earnie & Eddie (pigs) Arrived 25th June 2018 On the morning of the 25th of June, a very pregnant Lola pig gave birth to six little bundles of joy – Pumpkin, the only girl and her 5 brothers Napoleon, Squirt, Bert, Earnie and the littlest of all Eddie. These are the first piglets to ever be born at Happy Hooves. We never anticipated such an event, as we do not breed our animals or condone such activities (Lola and her friend Bindi arrived at Happy Hooves…

Barry
Barry (roosters) Arrived 18th June 2018 Barry the rooster was impounded by local rangers back in June. Nobody came forward to claim the rooster (no one ever does!), and so the rangers were desperately looking for somewhere for Barry to go where he could live out the rest of his life. Lucky for Barry we were able to squeeze him in one of our rooster coops. Barry is a friendly little fellow and enjoys his days foraging freely around the sanctuary with his friends. Would you like to help…

Lola & Bindi
Lola & Bindi (pigs) Arrived 16th June 2018 Back in June we were contacted by the staff at a Perth pound. Two pigs had been impounded and the owner did not want to collect them. With nowhere to send the pics, the ranger asked if we could provide the abandoned pigs with home. As we’d just about completed our pig extension on ‘Pig Paradise’ we were in a position to offer the girls a home. When we went to collect the girls, we noticed…
