Chubby Belardi and Poppy

Chubby Belardi and Poppy (sheep) Arrived 17 July 2016

Twin lambs Chubby Belardi (male) and Poppy (female) were found orphaned or rejected, by a couple of backpackers on the farm they were working, east of Albany.

The farm owner agreed to them hand-rearing them and so they did just that. At the end of their two month stint on the farm, they couldn’t bear the thought of the twins ending up being sent to slaughter, so they asked if they could find them a forever home. The farmer agreed and at the time we had just taken in little two-week old Ruby, who was desperately in need of another lamb to keep her company, so Ric jumped in the car and drove the 1184 km round trip to pick them up.

They were one month old when they arrived at the sanctuary and quickly bonded with Ruby (two weeks old), who, not being used to humans, was much more wary of us than Poppy and Chubby and it’s great to see her with lamby company!

Would you like to help us to take care of Chubby Belardi and Poppy?  One off donations and sponsorship gifts are available now to support our work. Thank you for caring about farm animals.
