Patrick (sheep): Arrived 6 February 2013
Patrick the lamb arrived at Happy Hooves from a local pound with Olive the sheep and Ellen DeHeiferis the cow – all unclaimed strays. Patrick (named after the kind ranger who brought this lovely trio to us) was a gorgeous little lamb who was not as fearful as the other two to begin with, allowing us to put a harness on him and take him for walks and cuddles. However due to his young age he bonded with Olive who (we assume) he saw as a mother figure, and quickly picked up her distrust of humans and subsequent distance. So now it’s hard to get a Paddy pat – we miss his cuddles!
It turned out that Olive had a secret, nobody knew but she was pregnant! The only one more surprised than us by the birth of Sweet Pea was possibly Patrick. He became quite jealous when Sweet Pea arrived and didn’t like that Olive’s attention switched to her new lamb. To be safe, we had to separate him from them for a while but before long, as soon as Sweet Pea was big enough, they were all reunited and became a happy trio.
To this day, Patrick (we affectionatly call him “Paddy”) hangs out with Olive & Sweetpea, as well as all the others in the mob – doing sheepy things in paddocks!
Would you like to help us to take care of Patrick? One off donations and sponsorship gifts are available now to support our work. Thank you for caring about farm animals.
