The Toodyay 8

Dame Judy Drench, Baarbara, Maartha, Val, Alan, Yahtzee, Leto, Lynnie  (sheep). Arrived 28 November 2015

These eight beautiful sheep (four ewes, three ram lambs and one ewe lamb) were part of a group of 12 sheep rescued from a property in Toodyay after the owner had to vacate. Our friends at Possum Valley Animal Sanctuary took on one ram, two wethers and a ewe.

They are a very close-knit family (related or not) and Dame Judy Drench is definitely the very protective matriarch, often stamping her foot at anyone who gets too close to the group.

Dame Judy is the only Merino, Baarbara and Maartha both Poll Dorsets, Val – a Damara and Leto, Lynnie, Alan and Yahtzee are all Southern Suffolk.

They were all drenched and vaccinated upon arrival (and isolated as is standard procedure) and are doing really well, with no obvious health issues apart from Dame Judy’s obvious lack of condition, which we are working on improving.

They are all due for their booster vaccine next week (Jan 2015) and five days after that, the boys will be able to be surgically castrated. They will eventually end up integrated with the main flock unless we find another suitable home for them, but either way, they are safe and well-cared for now.

Would you like to help us to take care of the Toodyay 8?  One off donations and sponsorship gifts are available now to support our work. Thank you for caring about farm animals.
