Joyce (pig). Arrived May 2015
Joyce is a Berkshire x Durack pig who ran into a supermarket where, as her good fortune would have it, Paul (Happy Hooves farm hand and animal-lover extraordinaire) was shopping at the time. She obviously knows a compassionate person when she sees one, as she ran straight up to him. She was closely followed by a man chasing her who proclaimed that he had just found her – she had made an escape from somewhere!
Paul negotiated Joyce’s release and was able to take her home with him that evening and after failing to find her previous owner, bring her to her new forever home at Happy Hooves.
Joyce had to spend one or two weeks in isolation (with lots of human visits and attention) to make sure she was healthy, before making friends with Preston the pig.
We named Joyce in honour of Paul’s grandmother.
Would you like to help us to take care of Joyce? One off donations and sponsorship gifts are available now to support our work. Thank you for caring about farm animals.
