Bella & Dana (pigs) Arrived 3rd February 2018
Bella and Dana were much loved companion animals. Bella was purchased by her previous owners as a piglet, and later she was joined by Dana who was a rescue pig. The girls had lived with their previous owners for years, but unfortunately their owners were experiencing ongoing health problems within the family, and reluctantly they needed to rehome their dear girls. After months of advertising the pair, we were unsuccessful at securing a loving home for them, so we offered them a forever home here at Happy Hooves.
It was a long drive for the girls, and when they arrived they were quite hot and exhausted. The pair were both substantially overweight, they’d clearly been enjoying the good life! They were put on a special program to slowly reduce their weight down to a normal level for their own health and longevity.
The pair are very bonded, we tried integrating them with another group of pigs. Bella seemed to be not too bothered by the new companions, while Dana became clearly depressed. She didn’t like to be around anyone else apart from Bella. So the pair are now in their own yard together, happy and enjoying sanctuary life.
Would you like to help us to take care of Bella & Dana? One off donations and sponsorship gifts are available now to support our work.
Thank you for caring about farm animals.
