Animal Actionist promotes non breeding of all rescued animals, particularly in the interest of breaking the cycle of unwanted farm animals (most of them males,) that find themselves with little time to find a new home and end up in danger of slaughter. All farm animals adopted via Animal Actionist are intended as family pets, and therefore the same rules that apply for non breeding of cats and dogs, applies to these animals too. If you apply to adopt you thereby agree and are bound to not use this animal for breeding.

All suitable applications are forwarded to the current custodian for consideration, and you will be contacted as soon as possible to discuss your offer further. Valentino is in Need of a New Home

 Location: Perth

A year ago, this stunning 5 year-old gelding ‘Valentino’ was purchased by his current owners for a pleasure ride. The young gelding was presented to them by the seller as sound. Unfortunately, after initial training by Karen White at Mohegan Centre and a vet report, it was discovered that he is lame and unable to be ridden in order to manage his pain levels and elongate his quality of life.

He has been diagnosed with performance limiting lameness associated with his lower joints of the right-front limb. He can no longer be ridden as this puts pressure on his back and joints causing him discomfort.

Valentino requires interaction with other horses, he needs companionship and stimulation otherwise he becomes depressed. He also requires a home with an experienced horse owner.

Prospective adopters will be offered full disclosure of vet reports and trainer reports and any information they require.

Valentino is a sweet boy, with a trusting and kind nature and loves a cuddle and a brush. He is also great with other animals; dogs, cats and other horses.

Valentino has been my first horse every! I am nervous around horses and I find that by spending time with Valentino, my confidence grows. He has an extraordinary ability to console and comfort me when I am walking with him, or around him.

Horse trainer Karen White, mentioned he would be a great ‘Healing horse,’ assisting disabled people, or those with a lack of confidence, as he is very smart and sensitive horse and acts accordingly with different people.

Valentino will be vaccinated and wormed before handover to his new family, and an adoption fee of $50 applies.

Adopted! Beautiful Bella has a New Home.

UPDATE: Bella has been adopted! She will soon be moving to her new home at Calan Horse Sanctuary in Highbury. We’re sure she will be very happy there.

Bella is a beautiful chestnut mare in need of some tender loving care. She is shy and timid at first, but will calm down once trust has been established.

This lovely girl was sold to her owner six months ago as a riding horse. However, her age and behavior towards riding, illustrated that she needs to retire and enjoy a peaceful life as a companion animal. The current owner has concerns that she may have been abused by her previous owner, hence why she didn’t return Bella to them after the trial period.

An experienced horse owner, with a gentle and loving nature is what Bella needs.

Volunteer photographer Amanda met Bella a few days ago for her photo shoot and said “I met Bella the Chestnut horse and she was lovely. Friendly, curious and quite the personality… You can see a few shots of her telling me off for sticking the camera in her face lol.”

Bella will be wormed and vaccinated before handover to her new family and an adoption fee of $50 applies.

QUICK REFERENCE LIST:

NAME:                   Bella

AGE:                     19 years

SEX:                      Female

Welsh x Australian Pony gelding available for adoption

***UPDATE:  Fantastic news, Thor has been adopted!***

This gorgeous pony is offered for adoption from Second Chance Horse Rescue.  Below is a cross-post from their site:

Thor was abandoned on a property along with another pony.

Thor is a very handsome little guy, standing at just 11.2hh and with a rich bay coat and a fetching white star. He is a registered Welsh x Australian Pony gelding and is ready for his new home.

He is very friendly and affectionate, loves people and is easy to handle. He can be caught, led, tied up, rugged and floated with no problems. He’s great for the farrier and a real sweety.

Thor was a breeding stallion, and was gelded on the 21st of December 2010. He has settled into life as a gelding like he was made for it and is not showing any stallion-like tendancies. He’s been paddocked with mares as well as geldings since his castration and has been a gentleman with everyone.

He has shown no vices at all since his surrender in December 2010.

We don’t believe Thor is started to saddle or harness, and he is being offered as a companion-only pony.

Thor’s Adoption fee is $300

As with all SC’s equines going on Adoption, Thor is in excellent condition, and up to date with his dental work, hoofcare, worming and vaccinations.

If you are interested in giving Thor a home please contact us on 0458 589 007 or email cfo@schrar.org
