Petal the lamb arrived 18 February 2015
This sweet little girl was rejected by her mum and so with nobody to raise her, the farmer was going to put her down. However a kindly employee couldn’t stand the idea that this little life would be extinguished, and so she volunteered to take her on and try to find a good home for her. We were contacted about Petal’s dilemma and we found a great home for her with some wonderful people, but unfortunately they could not take her on for a few days. Faced with the problem of needing to give Petal supplemental colostrum immediately (as it was feared she never drank from her mum), we couldn’t wait any longer and so within 24 hours this darling lamb found her way to us for urgent care. Within moments our hearts were stolen; this is one adorable little lamb.
The colostrum supplementation went well although she developed a low grade temperature and has had some trouble with her tummy. She is prone to “scouring” (diarrhea) so we have learnt to be very gentle on her digestion by feeding small feeds often and keeping a vigilant eye on her temperature and general demeanor. The vets are very happy with Petal’s progress so far, she has a great appetite and is in fantastic body condition – we are all very hopeful that the supplemental colostrum will pull her through the risky first three months of life.
Petal is a darling girl who brightens our every day with her sweet face, her fun filled sproinking, and her precious little “baaaaaa”.
Welcome to the fold little girl.. we hope you will be here for many years to come and we promise we will do everything in our power to help you.
