Benji (rooster) Arrived 25 March 2017
Benji’s story is one we have heard time and time again. His previous owner purchased some 7-week old Bantam chickens, sexed as females. As the hens began to mature, it became evident that Benji was in fact a male – A beautiful little Belgian Bantam rooster. As his owner’s resided in suburbia, they were unable to keep Benji and contacted us for assistance.
We weren’t sure how Benji and our resident bantam King Louis would react to each other. After a short time in quarantine, Benji was introduced to Louis and his harem of regular-sized hens. Much to our delight, the two get along wonderfully! Benji, Louis and the hens Wilma, Sweet Pea, Princess Layer, Lindsay Lohen and Yuki all share a coop at night. When we go to shut their door in the evening, they are all on the perch cuddled up together. Benji has found his forever home here at Happy Hooves.
Would you like to help us to take care of Benji? One off donations and sponsorship gifts are available now to support our work. Thank you for caring about farm animals.
