Introducing Saturnin, Jupiter, Pluto & Aglae… searching for a very special home together – located in Perth Western Australia. This is their message:

We are 3 Welsh Harlequin ducks and 1 Goldlaced Wyandotte rooster. We ducks are known as Saturnin, Jupiter and Pluto (the only girl), and Aglae is the rooster. A caring lady rescued us from a sad future when we were 4 weeks old. Us ducks each have vision in one eye only, but it is enough, plus Aglae is our seeing-eye rooster and watches over us. Aglae was lame in one leg but he healed this himself in the first 2 weeks at home with lots of stretching exercises, and he is now a large and well behaved rooster. We all went to see the bird vet, and us ducks have been on a 10-day antibiotic course of eyedrops.

Like all ducks, we totally love our little shell pools and green feed (lettuce leaves). Aglae has grown up with us, and is really more duck than chook, he loves his green feed too, he does draw the line at swimming though. Aglae has not been crowing, he only raises the alarm when his duck friends are threatened and he can’t handle the situation on his own (eg a cat attack).  He might still start crowing at week 20, but I would not be surprised if he does not, as he is a very quiet bird who just goes about his business quietly, and patiently waits every morning to be let out of his night-box into the day-yard. As mum has to go away for work for 6 months, we are now looking for a new mum (or dad, or both) either as a foster home till mum comes home again, or as an adopt home. Pluto would love to have another girl duck in the mix, for gender balance and also because she is a little bit an “outsider” having joined our group of three 4 weeks later.

If you feel you can be the new carer for our fun family of four, please fill out the application form below and our rescuer will be in touch by phone or by email.

PLEASE SHARE THIS POST WITH ANYONE YOU KNOW WHO MAY BE ABLE TO OFFER A WONDERFUL HOME.

Please fill in our EXPRESSION OF INTEREST form if you would like to ask questions or offer to adopt.

Animal Actionist promotes non breeding of all rescued animals, particularly in the interest of breaking the cycle of unwanted farm animals (most of them males,) that find themselves with little time to find a new home and end up in danger of slaughter. All farm animals adopted via Animal Actionist are intended as family pets, and therefore the same rules that apply for non breeding of cats and dogs, applies to these animals too. If you apply to adopt you thereby agree and are bound to not use this animal for breeding.

All suitable applications are forwarded to the current custodian for consideration, and you will be contacted as soon as possible to discuss your offer further. Please understand that it may take a few days for us to respond to you depending on the amount of applications received, and it is never a case of first come, first served with animal adoptions, as we have to do our best to locate the absolute best homes for the animals. If you have any problems or further queries, please contact Animal Actionist direct via the “contact us” link. Thank you so much for caring for animals.
