UPDATE

It is with a happy heart we announce that Noodle has found a fantastic home at a little sanctuary in the Perth Hills.  He will live his days in the company of rescued poultry just like him, and a menagerie of other critters to sing CockadoodleHI to.  We are so very pleased with this outcome.  Well done little man.

Oh MY!  When this little man walks, every feather jiggles and wiggles like a noodle! When he’s wet, he looks slick like a super model… Could there be a more adorable little rooster in the world? Well maybe there could be.. but wow this boy is someone worth crowing about don’t you think!?

Noodle is a Silkie Frizzle Bantam and is about 6-8 months old. His current owner purchased him as a chick (from a breeder who told her the chick was a hen) but as happens oh so often – she turned out to be a he, a plucky little rooster.  It is very sad for his current human friend to give him up but she cannot have any more roosters, the others are picking on him too much – it is time to find Noodle his ultimate happy forever home. Could this be with you?

He was hand raised so he is very friendly (although he doesn’t really like to be picked up). Noodle has as a very sweet nature and is not at all aggressive, in fact he’s a little too nice and doesn’t stick up for himself around other assertive hens or roosters. He therefore would best suit a coop where he is the only boy, and his girls should be a similar size to him or placid breeds. There’s nothing Noodle likes more than to be able to fuss over his girls and present them with tidbits all day long – he’s a true gentleman that’s for sure.

Another consideration is that Noodle cannot fly very well due to the feather configuration of a frizzle bantam; therefore he would need steps up to his night roosting perch. For winter he must always have access to shelter and protection from the wind and rain due to his reduced ability to remain warm and dry due to his curled feathers.

So if you think you could offer this fellow a home where he will have the company of small or gentle breed hens, the opportunity for free ranging during the day and a lovely safe haven from the weather and predators at night; if you’re the kind of carer who will give him safety and love for the rest of his days – we would love to hear from you.

  • An adoption fee of $20 applies, this will be payable to Animal Actionist Ltd – our registered farm animal rescue charity – to help us to continue to help animals find great homes.

A BIG thank you to 100 Loyal Faces for some of the stunning photos featured below!

PLEASE SHARE THIS POST WITH ANYONE YOU KNOW WHO MAY BE ABLE TO OFFER A WONDERFUL HOME TO THIS HANDSOME BOY.

Please fill in our EXPRESSION OF INTEREST form if you would like to offer to adopt.

* Animal Actionist promotes non breeding of all rescued animals, particularly in the interest of breaking the cycle of unwanted farm animals (most of them males,) that find themselves with little time to find a new home and end up in danger of slaughter. All farm animals adopted via Animal Actionist are intended as family pets, and therefore the same rules that apply for non breeding of cats and dogs, applies to these animals too. If you apply to adopt you thereby agree and are bound to not use these birds for breeding.

All suitable applications are forwarded to the current custodian for consideration, and you will be contacted as soon as possible to discuss your offer further. Please understand that it may take a few days for us to respond to you depending on the amount of applications received, and it is never a case of first come, first served with animal adoptions, as we have to do our best to locate the absolute best homes for the animals. If you have any problems or further queries, please contact Animal Actionist direct via the “contact us” link. Thank you so much for caring for animals.

We love Noodle! He is good friends with Rio Rooster, who was driven all the way from Albany over Easter with his brothers. Noodle enjoyes being hand fed meal worms and digging out his own earthworms in the lower garden 🙂
